I've been holding back on this issue for some time now, but after three solid hours shopping in Soho with my beloved Icelandic niece....the question must be posed
Hey New York City!
Could you girls please get your titties out of my face!!??
Everyone's boobs are hanging out everywhere I go - uptown, downtown, like never before.
Everybody and their mother is wearing spaghetti straps, strapless or plunging V necks with a friggin' push up - push out bra - or just letting their jugs of any size fall out of their dresses and tops.
I don't find it offensive but I do feel that if you shove your boobies in my face I have every right to stare at them - something I usually don't do.
What is the protocol here folks?!
My protocol is to take the path of least resistance and just stare. :)
... besides, some people are understandably proud. They paid a lot of money to look like that.
I have been noticing this for a few years now.
I was never a boob flasher. I thought that I envied them , they had no shame but now they get on my nerves. Shameless hussies. :)
Oy! You wouldn't believe the visual that flashed through my mind while reading this. Or....maybe you would.
Just last night I listened to an interview with a guy who's written a book (along with his wife) connecting bras and breast cancer. In his and his wife's opinions -- quit wearing bras. Umm....
jin - hee hee hee is right
michael - you are a riot!
har - some how it makes boobs seem less sexual - but maybe that's a good thing.
ellesu - women without bras...I would have said no problem, but after breastfeeding my boobs are sadly singing a different tune!
I couldn't agree more. It's like a "Breast Fest" out here!
WOW! I had no idea. I figure if they flaunt 'em then gawk.
I say stare (as someone is often guilty of displaying too much boobage--but what if they are your ONLY good feature?!? Ahem, not that I'm talking about myself....)
My sister Shelley has said for the past ten years, "New York is boob town." You can't fight City Hall!
Deb - I'll keep abreast of the situation....ouch
Kranki - you gotta see it to believe it. And gawk I will
writermama - You have always had great boobs among your many attractive features. I'm all for women doing what feels right but I just don't know if I should look at someone's boobs like I'm admiring their eyes or smile or whatever.
Shelley is way ahead of the curve than I am. It just seems to be coming on so strong this summer. It must be the push up/squeeze'em together bras that some many women are wearing.
(... contented silence)
michael - being the guy in this discussion is your cross to bear!
Or cross to bare, in this case. (Sorry ... good taste in puns is not one of my strong points.)
Every summer the breasts come out, just like the flowers in May.
I tell my husband to enjoy it - As soon as things start to cool off, they'll go back in for cover.
Just found your blog, BTW, via the comments section at Dr Deb's. Enjoying the read...
