Cool It!

I am in desperate need to get my air conditioner jammed into my window...and fast. I just can't stand the urban heat and NOISE emanating from the sidewalks of my beloved Avenue.

On Wednesday I am going to look at spaces to live in Jackson Heights. Frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing but I must start somewhere. My 450 square foot apartment is beginning to feel like a coffin...a cluttered coffin with a west highland terrier jumping in and out of it.

We will also need to look north of the city where there might be some worn down cottage with our name on it.

My Kingdom for an installed air conditioner! Any takers!?

Gee, it's too bad you're thinking of leaving the East Village, but there comes a time when one must move on. I guess knowing when to end an adventure is just as important as knowing when to begin one.

I'll be doing my usual Saturday thing in the East Village -- taking pictures -- but maybe I guess it's not so usual, because I haven't done it in a few weeks.

Enjoy the holiday!

Hi Michael

It is too bad in some ways. My family has been in neighborhood for five generations. The East Village is the New York I know when I think of this city. We live in unbearably close quarters and it doesn't help us as a family to remain here. I can't afford to live in this neighborhood - not by a long shot. I love your pictures of this neighborhood and would love to buy some of your photography one day. But I also love your pictures of anything. Wouldn't it be funny if you took a picture of me moving out by accident! That won't be for a while though.

Hi EVI,

Sorry, you can't buy any of my pictures. But I'll gladly give you whichever ones you want.

Even Zen students deserve to be paid for beautiful artwork!

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around 450 square feet.
Photos of Jackson Heights look nice online and you are only a 20 minute ride or so from Manhattan (from what I've read). For me that is a ride to the grocery store.
I do like your area though. After the few times that I've been up there it has taken me a few days to get used to the quiet here and walk at a slower pace. :-)

I hope you find the perfect new place to continue your adventures. Your new neighbourhood may not be the East Village but it might be just as good in a different way. Good luck with your search.

Jar - please don't try to wrap your mind around 450 square feet. Most minds are 600 square feet - your mind wouldn't fit in my apartment. Thanks for looking out for me.

Kranki - thanks for cheering me on. I hope I have the luck that you had when you moved!
